The First Group Date
The women going on the first group date are Stephy, McCarten, Jenni, Lindsey, Sarah, and DeAnna. The note reads, "Join me for an afternoon at the greatest show on earth, Brad." Lindsey is excited to go to the circus, but concerned since Brad has a strong connection with many of the girls in this group.
Brad says he chose the circus because he wants to see the women's "inner child" come out. They arrive before anyone else and get to see the tigers up close and feed the elephants. Stephy volunteers first to walk a tightrope that's just a few feet off the ground. The rest of the women try it next, but Jenni shows them all up by doing a series of acrobatic flips, which greatly impresses Brad.
He confides to the camera that his chemistry with Jenni is off the charts, and that she's the only one he still gets nervous around. When they're alone, she says she was anxious at the last rose ceremony waiting for her name to be called and he answers that she must know how he feels, saying that everything is different since their kiss. She says she keeps thinking about the kiss and that she didn't tell anyone about it. Since her dancing is so important to her, she asks that if she is the last girl, whether he would agree to a long distance relationship for a year. He asks if she wants to be the last girl and she says yes, she wants to be the person that he falls in love with. Brad is moved, but he knows he still has 11 other women who probably feel the same way.
He talks to Stephy next and admires her independence. She tells him how much she respects her father and that she wants to marry someone like him, someone who is safe and dependable. She tells him her longest relationship lasted three years and she's been single for the last five.
When he rejoins the group, Sarah asks when he's going to hand out the rose and he answers that he's not ready to give it out yet and jokingly thanks her for putting him on the spot.
He shares his big surprise with them: They're not only going to watch the circus, they're going to be in it! They go backstage and then are announced to the crowd and Brad is declared an official guest ringmaster.
After the circus starts, Brad pulls McCarten away for a one on one. He tells her he can't read her vibe. Does she want to be friends or something more? She tells him she is interested in him but that she's confident enough that she doesn't feel the need to compete for his affection or to receive the rose today. He finds her confidence refreshing. She says that dating Brad is like a tightrope walk: Some people need a net and some people don't.
During his one on one with Lindsey, she says she was instantly attracted to him and he says it was mutual. She tells him her last relationship lasted six years and Brad privately wonders if she's over her ex.
A performer appears with the rose and hands it to Brad, who gives it to a delighted Stephy.
The Private Date
Back at the house, the next date box has arrived. Hillary is thrilled to find out she's the recipient of the first solo date with Brad. Inside is a glamourous black dress. She's excited but nervous, and hoping to get what she thinks is the first kiss with Brad. She comes down wearing the dress and he tells her she looks beautiful. He presents her with a jewelry box containing a million dollar Chopard necklace and earrings, which he puts on her, to the envy of all the other women. They're driven to the airport where they board a private jet to San Francisco. He leads her to a suite at a hotel where a romantic table for two is set with dozens of candles.
He asks her what her philosophy on relationships is and she says her previous one lasted four years, but she had some doubts about the guy. She says she feels like she's ready now to meet someone new and settle down. She starts to tear up and he apologizes for putting her on the spot. He offers to hug her and she assures him she's not sad, just emotional. She apologizes for being so emotional and he tells her there's nothing to worry about as he wipes her tears away.
The next date box arrives for Kristy, Sheena, Jade, Bettina and Solisa. Sheena is excited that it's a sailing date, since she's been boating her whole life and thinks it will give her an advantage over the other women. Meanwhile, they debate whether Hillary is coming back. Kristy points out how Brad was struck speechless when he saw her all dressed up and thinks she will get a rose. DeAnna finds the other women insincere when they say they want her to come back.
Brad does give Hillary the rose and she happily accepts. Brad has arranged one more surprise for the evening: they head to the Ghiradelli chocolate factory where they make their own sundaes. He thanks her for a wonderful evening and goes in for a kiss. Hillary proclaims it "the best date ever."
The Second Group Date
The second group meets Brad on the sailboat and present him with the captain's hat that came in the date box. Kristy helps him steer and she puts her arm around him and says, "I could get used to this." She admits that being in competition for his affection is tougher than she thought it would be. He notices she's cold and pulls her closer.
Brad rejoins the group and the women start to dance and Solisa gives Brad a lap dance! She even shows off her sparkly bikini bottom. Bettina jokes that she's going to hire Solisa for Brad's bachelor party.
Back at the house, Hillary asks the other women to be honest about who didn't want her back. McCarten and DeAnna are the only ones to raise their hands. Hillary says she thinks they are "straight up witches." Upset with their obvious jealousy, she tells everyone that she and Brad "joined the mile high club."
Sheena shows off her competitive, athletic side as she and Brad ride jet skis. She cuts him off and the Coast Guard comes over and reprimands her! She's upset with herself for losing her one on one time with Brad.
Bettina takes the next ride with Brad, sitting behind him on his jet ski. She says she feels "sparks" between them and that during the ride is when she fell in love with him. They chat afterwards and he tells her how sweet she is and how attractive he finds her. She is still worried about revealing she's been divorced. He asks about her past relationships and she admits her last boyfriend was actually her husband. He admits to being shocked at the revelation.
In front of the other women, Brad gives the rose to Kristy, saying he likes that he saw her fun side for the first time.
The Cocktail Party
Before the next rose ceremony, Brad sends his identical twin brother, Chad, in his place to the cocktail party to help determine who's there for him. Even though none of the women know he has a twin, Brad is confident that the ones who really know him will figure out that something isn't quite right.
Chad is glad to help, since Brad helped him find his wife. He's sure he'll know right away which Bachelorette is right for Brad. Brad brings him up to speed on all the women so Chad will be able to recognize who's who. Brad will be in the limo, watching everything on a monitor.
Chad first meets McCarten and he cracks up while she's talking seriously about the importance of being herself. She wonders why he has the giggles and he tells her he's just having an off night. They part without her having suspected a thing.
Next up is Lindsey, who asks "Brad" how long he wants to be engaged and he replies he has no set time in mind. The real Brad watches in dismay as Chad seems to be fooling everyone. He starts to worry that no one will be able to tell him apart from his twin.
Sheena is the first one to realize something is off. She tells Chad he looks "different." Brad is elated when Sheena realizes Chad is a totally different person. He admits to the masquerade and introduces himself as Chad.
Kristy immediately says, "You are not Brad!" when Chad appears. Bettina is also suspicious and says, "It doesn't look like you" and realizes she's talking to Brad's twin. Next he meets DeAnna and Stephy together and they both realize that he's not Brad, but Sarah doesn't.
The women gather, some of whom still haven't realized they met with Chad tonight, and host Chris announces the deception. The women are astonished and those who didn't spot Chad realize it may have cost them a rose. Sarah especially regrets not having said that she thought something was different about Brad.
The Rose Ceremony
Brad, Chad and Chris compare notes before the rose ceremony but then leave Brad alone to make his decision on who stays and who goes.
Brad gives the remaining roses to:
Sheena
McCarten
Jenni
Jade
DeAnna
Bettina
Which means that Lindsey, Sarah and Solisa are going home. Sarah is sad that it's all over and that she doesn't get a second chance. Lindsey says she is really disappointed and thinks her downfall was not spotting Chad. She starts to cry and advises any future Bachelorettes to beware of the "fake girls" in the competition. She compares them to worms who are all after the same fish. Solisa admits to being "a little shocked," since she thought she had a stronger connection to Brad than the other women did. She thinks he's making a mistake in sending her away.
Brad thanks the remaining women for hanging in there with him and toasts to happiness.
